Robert Pattinson has revealed he was so involved with his Twilight character, Edward Cullen, that he wanted to become him.Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, says he finds it difficult to distance himself from the characters he plays.
He said: “You can never be a character, that's the one thing I'm sort of starting to realise. I always thought that, you know, you look at 'Raging Bull' and stuff and think, 'Wow, De Niro, he's become someone else.' And I was completely convinced that there is some way that you can actually become someone else for three months."
And Robert, who recently confirmed he is dating his co-star Kristen Stewart, added that he found it tough to separate acting from reality.
He told MTV: "I'm gradually starting to realise it's more about performance rather than actually some kind of physical [transformation], and it's taken me quite a long time to realise that."
Fans of the 23-year-old will get to see a lot more of him in his next film Bel Ami,which also stars Uma Thurman and is based on the classic novel by Guy de Maupassant.
Robert said: "[The movie] is like the complete antithesis of what you normally think period dramas are about. In Paris, everybody was just going nuts. It was like the 1980s. Sex was kind of a weapon and a tool, and it's odd."
